Consulting
1. Consulting Skills Training
To be an outstanding Information Technology (IT) consultant not only requires technical skills, but a proficiency in relationships skills, interpersonal skills, the ability to think strategically, and in creating effective value propositions for clients.
Can you answer yes to the following questions? Does your staff understand:
How to analyze user business requirements, strategies and business processes?
How to link IT solutions to business strategies and priorities
How to develop stronger relationships based on trust and credibility with users?
How to collaborate with users to proactively identify new opportunities of value?
Why different personality types react to change differently?
How to communicate your business value so that a client understands?
How to use internal consulting skills to build relationship currency?
Why different interpersonal skills are needed with different personality styles?
Many corporations desire to make their Information Technology professionals more business focused in dealing with their clients. The skills needed to deliver projects that are aligned with business direction require a change in the mental models of IT professionals. An outstanding IT consultant requires not only technical skills, but also a proficiency in relationship and interpersonal skills, the ability to think strategically and to create effective value propositions for the client.

2. Building Emotionally Intelligent Teams
Virtually every merger or acquisition is predicated on the belief that certain synergies can be achieved by combining the businesses. The hope is that the new management team can be smoothly integrated with the old and that the inherent strengths of each will bubble to the surface. Anyone who has been through this process knows full well that this rarely occurs. That’s because once the new leadership team has been selected each member immediately sets about the process of protecting their position and advancing their cause. This leads to a great deal of counterproductive behavior; at least as far as the overall organization is concerned. Eventually, the top executive becomes fed up, lays down the law and starts disciplining the obvious sub-optimizing leaders. Ultimately the situation stabilizes and people begin to focus on attaining results, though this process can take years. Does this have to be the scenario?
Team Coaching
Team coaching is a proven method for rapidly integrating and focusing the top team following a merger or acquisition by building on the emotional intelligence of the team. It’s similar to facilitation but with some important differences. Team coaches are focused on action and accountability. As a result the coach is pushing hard for outcomes, decisions, and the acceptance of individual responsibility from every team member. Often the coach works one-on-one with team members to reveal barriers to participation and unemployed or underemployed strengths. This combination of team building and executive coaching is a powerful approach to getting the organization to move quickly towards real results.
Our Team Coaching Approach
Team development is a process by which skills and behaviors are honed in the normal work environment. Spectracomm utilizes an assessment tool that not only identifies strengths, but also highlights the emotional development of the team. This helps foster a climate where trust, confidence, and action can blossom. Our methods help teams identify and eliminate patterns of interaction that drain resources and energies. We begin by interviewing and conducting assessments to help all understand team strengths and areas for development. We then work with the team to develop specific strategies and objectives. The emphasis is on measurable goals that lead to collaboration, innovation, and performance.
Merged organizations are most effective when individual team members are focused on a shared set of aligned objectives. SpectraComm’s planning and strategy methodology takes the new leadership team through a process of collaboratively defining, developing, and prioritizing a shared set of strategic objectives. This process establishes measurement and cross-functional accountability for plan implementation. In addition this process helps break down the silos and turf barriers that are always present. Ultimately the team builds a solution set of action items that have real timeframes, measures, and accountability attached to each. A sure formula for success.
